Do you have THE PEARL WITHIN?

January 25, 2012 By Beverley Glick Leave a Comment

I first heard the term SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, Timely) goals about 10 years ago and I’ve remembered it ever since. I know the power of a good acronym or mnemonic, so I set myself the task of coming up with my own for The Pearl Within. Here goes: P is for Presence There are two strands to presence: one is always being in the present moment; the other is having a … [Read more...] about Do you have THE PEARL WITHIN?

What’s so amazing about grace?

January 24, 2012 By Beverley Glick Leave a Comment

While charity shopping at the weekend I stumbled upon a copy of Success Intelligence, one of the few Robert Holden (www.robertholden.org) books I haven’t read. That was a happy accident in itself. But when I flicked through it later I found that one section of the book is about grace. That’s the very word that came to me in a visualisation I did the other night about aligning with your highest … [Read more...] about What’s so amazing about grace?

Enter the Water Dragon

January 23, 2012 By Beverley Glick Leave a Comment

Happy New Year, China. I’m fascinated by the symbolism of the Water Dragon, whose year starts today - and it’s auspicious because this happens only once every 60 years. Contrary to all the doom and gloom you read in the West about 2012, the Chinese believe this year brings many possibilities for good fortune. To them, dragons are divine mythical creatures that bring with them power, abundance and … [Read more...] about Enter the Water Dragon

My declaration of self-esteem

January 22, 2012 By Beverley Glick Leave a Comment

I’m away on a course today so haven’t had much time to focus on this page. But I’m determined to keep to my resolution of posting something of value every day for my Pearl Within tribe, so I’ve decided to pass on some wisdom from an inspirational woman - Virginia Satir, a pioneering family therapist whose work was extensively studied and modelled by the founders of Neuro Linguistic Programming … [Read more...] about My declaration of self-esteem

No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should…

January 21, 2012 By Beverley Glick 1 Comment

When I was thinking of a theme for today’s post, for some reason Desiderata popped into my mind. This inspirational prose poem, written by Max Ehrmann in the 1920s, became popular with the make-love-not-war generation. It appeared on every student’s bedroom wall and was recorded several times, most notably by US talk show host Les Crane.  I was a teenager when this was a hit in the … [Read more...] about No doubt the universe is unfolding as it should…

Why I’ll carry on being a dancing queen

January 20, 2012 By Beverley Glick Leave a Comment

I have loved dancing ever since I was five years old, a mini-ballerina dressed in a butterfly tutu. I’ve tried a few styles - from ballet and ballroom to barn dancing - but most of all I like moving to music in whatever way the mood takes me. I’ve cut a few rugs on quite a few dancefloors in my time, I can tell you. But as I got older, I guess dancing for the hell of it seemed, well, a bit … [Read more...] about Why I’ll carry on being a dancing queen
